What is FSSAI?

FSSAI, or the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Its primary responsibility is to regulate and supervise the food safety standards in India. FSSAI lays down the scientific standards for articles of food and regulates their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import, to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.
