The scheme seeks to support Micro Food Processing Enterprises through a package of support and services. These include:

1. Financial Support
   Financial assistance is provided for setting up a new food processing unit or for the upgradation of an existing unit. Under this scheme, people living in India who want to grow in the food sector, or those who already have a business and want to expand it, can apply and avail the benefits.
2. Support to Organizations
   The scheme also provides support to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), and Producers Cooperatives across their entire value chain.
3. Training & Capacity Building
   Training programs and capacity-building support are provided to improve skills and knowledge in the food processing sector.
4. Marketing Support
   Marketing assistance is provided to help enterprises integrate with the organized supply chain.

There are many people who have talent and knowledge in the food sector, but due to lack of money they are unable to start something new. By taking advantage of this scheme, they can start and grow their businesses under the PMFME Scheme.
